I am 31-years-old and interested in getting into the investment arena. I have been a gov't intelligence analyst for the past 9 years, but have recently quit my job, so I could move back home to spend some time with my father before he passes away. Needless to say, my life style has changed from what I am used to and am looking for a way to supplement my new lower income.

I have spent almost 20 years in the movie marketing business, working in the trenches cutting trailers and television spots for scores of campaigns. Five years ago I set up my own company here in New York that continues to grow each year. My investment experience is limited to real estate and basic stocks and mutual funds. I'm looking for promising new enterprises to invest in. I'm anticipating little involvement unless the industry is in or near to my own. I could probably be of use if that's the case. Otherwise I'd just leave it to the experts in other fields.

My investment objective is portfolio diversification. My current portfolio is mainly invested in public-listed stocks, bonds and other highly liquid investments. Angel investing is risky but would provide diversification, higher potential returns and joy for starting something new from scratch. My first and last experience in Angel Investing was a loan to a friend besides my financial advice. However, economic conditions deteriorated dramatically and forced him to shut down in less than 3 years.
